If you end up in a hotel or travel inn where an iron is as elusive as a dancing dodo, you might love these tips.
Ideas include a very cheap, homebrew anti-wrinkle spray and hanging your clothes in the bathroom while you shower.

We live in interesting times. For those of us who stood in Downing Street on the day the Iron Lady left office, did we ever think she would be back to take tea with her long standing rival, Gordon Brown.? Plus the Tories and Libdems and who knows all appear to be part of the red edged Government. The fact of the matter is that politics has always been about deals. Parties do deals, politicians within them do deals and so it goes on. The question now for the voter is whether they really know what they are buying or trying to buy when they vote at an election. Is it Labour with a hint of Tory and a shot of Libdem. Or perhaps the Tories, with Labour/Libdem cocktail to follow…? Who knows.. But this is an electorate which is decreasing in active numbers as those who bother to turn out to vote continues to go down. A Government is a product which won’t necessarily do what it says on the tin.

It is frowned upon in the UK, but there are many benefits of a power nap in the morning or over lunchtime. And you wouldn’t be alone: President Bill Clinton, Leonardo da Vinci and Germany’s civil service are, or were, advocates.
So settle back in your car, put your eye mask on, and catch 20 minutes of high quality sleep to set you up for the rest of the day.
Ririanproject.com has some good advice and tips.
These short 20-minute power naps for people who are really engrossed in their work, almost always provide a fresh burst of new ideas and energy. They tend to eliminate the need for caffeine boosts during the workday. And, they guarantee a reserve of energy so that the working day isn’t followed by an evening in which he falls asleep on the couch watching TV or at a social event.

If you’re a MacBook user there’s a more sophisticated version of the alarm previously mentioned for Windows. This one uses the Mac’s built in motion sensors to detect someone picking it up.

You’re in a roadside cafe. You have to answer the call of nature but don’t want to take your laptop with you? (That could get you some funny looks, after all). What happens if your PC gets stolen?
Laptop Alarm is a free and easy to install application for Windows. When you leave your computer, lock it. As soon as someone tries power it down or unplug it from the mains, an alarm will go off.
It’s far from fool proof - if someone takes an unpowered laptop and just runs, the alarm might not go off until they’re some way away. It’s some added protection, though, and could also work if you’re working in a client’s office and don’t want anyone touching your equipment.

There are other, more robust, ways to protect your data - if not the actual laptop, from theft. (And after all, what is more valuable - your customer records or a laptop)? More on this in coming weeks. If you’ve any hints or tips - other than not letting your laptop out of your sight - use the comments.
